Pink piggy bank
It’s easy to transform a plain paper maché money box into a fabulous pink piggy bank with a little bit of help from Resene.
Resene Toys and Games with Mark Rayner - Project 18
Difficulty level: Moderate
You will need: Paintbrushes (including artists’ brushes), Paper maché money box (ours came from ‘Spotlight’), Resene Aquaclear gloss, Resene Quick Dry, Resene testpots of Resene Alabaster, Resene All Black, Resene Hopskotch, Resene Pink Panther and Resene Sports Star
To get the look: Mark painted the background table with Resene Lustacryl tinted to Resene Get Reddy.
Other ideas: Create a bright green piggy bank using Resene Lickety Split and Resene Kermit.
Step one
Remove the stopper from the base of the money box and apply one coat of Resene Quick Dry, as shown. Allow two hours to dry.
Step two
Apply two coats of Resene Hopskotch to the money box, allowing two hours for each coat to dry.
Step three
Paint the snout and inside of each ear with Resene Pink Panther, and allow two hours to dry.
Step six
Paint the nostrils and pupil of each eye with Resene All Black, and allow two hours to dry.
Step eight
Apply three coats of Resene Aquaclear gloss to the piggy bank, allowing two hours for each coat to dry. Replace the stopper in the base of the money box.
