To get the look: This deck was originally stained with Resene Kwila Timber Stain and a fresh application may be required every two years to keep it looking good.
Other ideas: For a wider range of colours suitable for decking choose a product from the Resene Woodsman Penetrating Oil Stain range.
How to stain a Kwila deck
Step one
Thoroughly sweep the deck to remove any dust and dirt.
Step two
Mix one part Resene Moss & Mould Killer with five parts clean water.
Step three
Apply the diluted solution to the deck with a garden sprayer.
Step four
Scrub the solution into the grooves of the deck with a broom and leave for 48 hours.
Step five
Wash the surface using Resene Timber and Deck Wash.
Step six
Before and several times during application, stir the Resene Kwila Timber Stain with a flat stirrer.
Step seven
Use the large paintbrush to apply the Resene Kwila Timber Stain to the deck, running in the direction of the grooves. Wipe off any excess with a dry clean lint free cloth.
Step eight
Wash brush in mineral turpentine and leave deck to dry for 24 hours before use.
