Here’s another idea: To create a bird feeding table, simply glue a large square ceramic floor tile to a piece of treated plywood and fix this to the fence post instead. To finish off, paint any visible parts of the plywood with Resene Lumbersider tinted to Resene Deep Koamaru to match the post.
Step one
Carefully stir the Resene Quick Dry. Apply one coat of Resene Quick Dry to the fence post (leaving the top unpainted) and allow to dry.
Step two
Carefully stir the Resene Lumbersider tinted to Resene Deep Koamaru. (If your glazed pot saucer is not blue, you may prefer to choose another colour to match or complement the saucer colour.)
Step three
Apply two coats of Resene Lumbersider tinted to Resene Deep Koamaru to the fence post (again, leaving the top unpainted). Allow two hours for each coat to dry.
Step four
Dig a hole approximately 500mm deep.
Step five
Place the fence post into the hole and use a spirit level to ensure that it’s upright, then fill in and compact the soil around the base.
Step six
Apply a generous amount of construction glue to the top of the fence post and press the ceramic plant pot saucer into position. Allow the glue to dry before filling the saucer with clean water.
