Top tip: Group a few pots together in different sizes to make a stylish display for an outdoor table, shelf or entertaining area.
Here's another idea: Use Resene ConcreteWash for a soft, natural finish that allows the concrete’s texture to shine through. Spray for an even look or brush on in a criss-cross motion for a fresco-like effect. Try Resene Stonewash or Resene Greigewash for a subtle, nature-inspired effect.
Step one
Sift the concrete into the bucket to remove any stones.
Step two
Stir slowly to combine the concrete and the water until it reaches a smooth, icing-like consistency. If too thick, add a little water; if too thin, add more concrete.
Step three
Blow up a balloon to your desired size and balance it on a cup or pot with the tied end facing down. Using gloved hands, scoop and smooth the concrete over the top until about half of the balloon is coated. Allow to dry according to the instructions on the bag.
Step four
Once dry, snip the balloon’s tied end with scissors and remove it from the planter. Dust off any residue.
Step five
Apply a coat of Resene Porsche to the interior of the concrete and allow to dry.
Step six
Apply a layer of Resene FX Metallic Bullion over the dried interior base colour and allow it to set.
Step seven
Add a coat of Resene Concrete Clear over the outside of the pot and allow to dry.
Step eight
Use your concrete pot as a decorative pot for small plants or fill it with stones or dried flowers to create an ornamental centrepiece. For a cozy touch, add some candles or fairy lights to your pot to create a warm, ambient glow.
