Pushing the boundaries on what we know as traditional art...

Ping Pong Country, known to fans as PPC, is an artistic fusion of country music and ping pong, art installation, graphic design, socialisation and alcohol. A typical event in Germany will take place at a bar 4-6 times a year starting at 10am and ending in the wee hours of the morning. Two DJs with a turntable apiece play a combination of Western Swing, Hillbilly, Country Boogie and Rockabilly song. Adopting an elimination round ping pong style with up to twenty players vying for the last spots, it’s an ideal escape from everyday life.

Pushing the boundaries on what we know as traditional art, each PPC environment is new and site specific and includes paintings on wooden panels, video projection and artful installation of found objects. The PPC installation at Scape 2006 skillfully utilised Resene Lumbersider satin acrylic in hues of Resene Buttercup, Resene Moon Yellow, Resene Guardsman Red, Resene Limeade, Resene Fun Blue, Resene Black, Resene White and Resene Lightning Yellow in the creation of the wooden panel paintings to help set the backdrop for the energetic ping pong sport.

Following opening weekend, the PPC installation at SCAPE was made available for bookings to let others experience a night in the unique artistic surroundings.
