Refurbishment of a derelict Dutch Street organ built in 1880 is a somewhat unusual and time consuming undertaking requiring patient dedication, with 200 hours spent just on painting the 80 wooden carvings that decorate the ornamental facade.

Over a period of 18 months the organ has been completely rebuilt and repainted using Resene Lusta-Glo in hues of Resene Karen Walker Malachite Green (carving highlights), Resene Frostee (carving outside), Resene Chardonnay (body colour), and Resene Hot Toddy (organ).

The completed organ was unveiled in style at the opening of the Foxton Dutch Windmill in early 2003.
