Clowning around
Create this cool clown tissue holder with some self-hardening modelling clay and a few Resene testpots.
Resene kids art with Mark Rayner - Project 58
Difficulty level: Challenging
You will need: Damp sponge, DAS self-hardening modelling clay, MDF tissue holder (ours came from ‘Spotlight’), Paintbrushes (including artists’ brushes), Resene Quick Dry waterborne primer undercoat, Resene testpots in the following colours: Resene Alabaster, Resene Bahia, Resene Clowning Around, Resene Curious Blue, Resene Havoc, Resene Nero and Resene Turbo
Top tip: The clay will dry quicker if you place it in a sunny spot outside or in an airing cupboard overnight.
Here's another idea: This cool cat paintbrush holder was made from an MDF box and painted with Resene Curious Blue, Resene Mandy, Resene Nero and Resene Wild Thing.

Another idea: Paintbrush holder
Step one
Lightly moisten the front of the tissue holder with a damp sponge (this will help the clay to stick better). Carefully make a clown head out of modelling clay and press onto the front of the tissue holder, as shown. Once finished, put in a safe place and allow to dry thoroughly.
Step two
Carefully prime the tissue holder and clown head with one coat of
Resene Quick Dry and allow to dry for two hours.
Step three
Paint the inside and sides of the tissue holder with two coats of
Resene Clowning Around, and the face and jacket of the clown with two coats of
Resene Alabaster, allowing two hours for each coat to dry.
Step five
Paint the nose, mouth and spots on the jacket with two coats of
Resene Havoc, allowing two hours for each coat to dry.
Step six
Paint the ruffled collar with two coats of
Resene Turbo and the face details with two coats of
Resene Nero, allowing two hours for each coat to dry. Once finished, fit a box of tissues inside the holder and get blowing!
