You will need: Bowl for mixing plaster, casting plaster, liquid soap, old metal mixing bowl (to use as a mould), paintbrush, plaster cloth wrap (available from most craft shops), Resene Aquaclear gloss, Resene Quick Dry, Resene testpots of Resene Copper Fire and Resene Wild West, rubber gloves, scissors.
To get the look: Mark painted the table with Resene Enamacryl) tinted to Resene Porsche.
Other ideas: Create a fabulous golden bowl by painting with one coat of Resene Porsche and two coats of Resene Bullion.
Step one
Apply a generous layer of liquid soap to the outside of the metal bowl.
Step two
Cover the outside of the bowl with cut pieces of dry plaster cloth wrap, as shown – the liquid soap will help it stick.
Step three
Apply several layers of moist plaster cloth wrap to the outside of the bowl, as shown. In another bowl, mix some casting plaster to a fairly stiff consistency.
Step four
Wearing rubber gloves, apply the plaster to the outside of the bowl, as shown. Once the plaster has set, carefully remove the metal bowl and gently rinse any soap residue from inside the plaster shell. Allow to dry thoroughly.
Step five
Apply one coat of
Resene Quick Dry to the plaster bowl and allow two hours to dry.
Step six
Apply one coat of
Resene Wild West to the plaster bowl and allow two hours to dry.
Step seven
Apply two coats of
Resene Copper Fire to the bowl, allowing two hours for each coat to dry.
Step eight
Apply three coats of
Resene Aquaclear gloss to the bowl, allowing two hours for each coat to dry.
