Metallic plant pot

It’s easy to transform an old terracotta pot into a metallic masterpiece with a little bit of help from Resene.

Difficulty level: Moderate

You will need: Bucket, garden hose with clean running water, garden sprayer, old terracotta pot, paintbrush, Resene FX Metallic tinted to Resene Funtasia, Resene Lumbersider tinted to Resene Daisy Bush, Resene Moss & Mould Killer, Resene Paint Prep and Housewash, Resene Sandtex Mediterranean effect, Resene Terracotta Sealer, rubber gloves, stiff-bristled brush.

To get the look: Mark painted the background wall with Resene Lumbersider tinted to Resene Unwind.

Other ideas: For a stunning gold effect apply two coats of Resene Bullion over a basecoat of Resene Porsche.

Step one
In a garden sprayer, mix one part Resene Moss & Mould Killer to five parts clean water.

Step two
Spray the old terracotta pot with the solution and leave for 48 hours.

Step three
In a plastic bucket, mix one part Resene Paint Prep and Housewash to three parts clean water.

Step four
Scrub the solution vigorously over the terracotta pot using a stiff-bristled brush.

Step five
Rinse thoroughly with clean water and allow to dry.

Step six
Apply Resene Terracotta Sealer to the pot inside and out. Then apply one coat of Resene Sandtex Mediterranean effect to the pot, dabbing the paint to create a textured effect. Allow to dry.

Step seven
Apply one coat of Resene Daisy Bush to the pot and allow to dry.

Step eight
Apply two coats of Resene Funtasia to the pot allowing two hours for each coat to dry.
