Garden sculpture
It’s easy to create a simple garden sculpture using a section of tree branch and Resene Waterborne Woodsman.
Resene art with Mark Rayner - Project 91
Difficulty level: Easy
You will need: Bucket, construction glue, garden hose with clean running water, paint stirrer, paintbrush, Resene Moss & Mould Killer, Resene Timber and Deck Wash, Resene Waterborne Woodsman tinted to Resene Totem Pole, rubber gloves, sandpaper, saw, section of tree branch, stiff-bristled brush.
To get the look: Mark painted the background shed wall with Resene Lumbersider tinted to Resene Black White.
Other ideas: For a striking black effect stain the wooden sculpture with Resene Waterborne Woodsman tinted to Resene Pitch Black.
Step one
Saw the section of tree branch into a suitable shape, ensuring the base is cut level so the piece will stand upright.
Step two
Sand smooth any rough edges.
Step four
Scrub the solution vigorously over the surface of the tree branch using a stiffbristled brush and leave for 48 hours.
Step six
Scrub the tree branch vigorously with the solution using a stiffbristled brush and rinse with clean water. Allow to dry.
Step eight
Apply two coats of Resene Waterborne Woodsman tinted to Resene Totem Pole to the tree branch, allowing two hours for each coat to dry. Secure the sculpture to a plinth or stand with a small amount of construction glue.
