From the Resene/Your Home and Garden Colour Home Awards Competition - second finalist
A striking black and white kitchen plays on form and colour to create a space ripe for entertaining.

As a designer, Emily Legget sees a lot of white kitchens. In fact, she reckons they occupy 95 percent of her work. Her own kitchen is not white.
“I like the moodiness of a dark kitchen,” she says. “Success depends on the space it sits in and, of course, it runs the risk of being too dark and overwhelming.”

Enter Resene Double Cod Grey, a rich charcoal that Emily likens to having a ‘Goldilocks’ effect – “It’s neither too light nor too dark.” She’s used it on several different surfaces in the space. A playful hint of sorbet pink creeps into the space from the lavatory, where Emily chose Resene Gelato to feature. “It is subtle but fun, so much fun that we decided to carry it through to the laundry too.”
