Mural theme:
We are thankful for our environment.
Background to mural creation:
The theme came about after lockdown. The environment had played a huge role in the children’s and community’s lives during a time when there was so much unknown. All felt truly lucky to live in such a rich and diverse environment in Ohope Beach and there was a very real feeling of getting back to basics and realising what we need is here and to be thankful for it.
As students returned to the classroom again, the staff and management of Ohope Beach School thought about what the students would need in the unprecedented situation and the decision was made to utilise the arts to help students reintegrate back into school, learn some new skills and to express themselves in a non-threatening way.
