Background to mural creation:
2015 marks the International Year of Light (IYL). Proclaiming 2015 to be the Year of Life demonstrates the United Nations’ recognition of the role light and its applications play in everyday life. As a part of the IYL, researchers, educators and industry partners have come together to highlight the importance of light and light based technologies.

Merrin School ran a week long Science Week, with activities based around light. The workshops had multi level groupings, with Senior students leading while wearing cloaks, the colours of the rainbow.

The mirrors on the right disc are so children can see their image with ‘electrified’ hair.
