Location:
Otahuhu Intermediate School.

Background to mural creation:
The tidal waterway alongside the school boundary forms part of the narrowest point between Waitemata and Manukau Harbours in the Auckland isthmus. In pre-European times Māori used this narrow land crossing to take waka up this waterway and carry them across to the Manukau. This school mural's design is dominated by the form of one waka along its length, to acknowledge the significance of the school's site. The mural itself is on a wall facing both north and the Otahuhu Creek waterway.
