Background to mural creation:
Our mural has been installed along what was once a grey and dimly lit hallway in our school. The theme, COVE, represents our school values: Citizenship, Opportunity, Vibrancy, and Excellence. We created the mural in a Matisse-inspired style, using bold colours and simplified shapes. The imagery reflects our local environment, featuring the Ōpāwaho River, which runs through our school, along with native birds, wildlife, and symbols of friendship. As this hallway leads to the Arts rooms, we also included elements designed to inspire future creatives.
