Telephone table
Turn an old wooden circular coffee table into a stylish retro telephone table with a little bit of help from Resene.
Fun with furniture with Mark Rayner - Project 22
Difficulty level: Moderate
You will need: an old wooden circular coffee table, clean cloth, old wooden circular coffee table, paintbrush, sandpaper, screwdriver and PVA glue. Resene Smooth Surface Sealer and Resene Enamacryl tinted to Resene Innocence.
To get the look: Mark revamped the wooden floor with Resene Aquaclear gloss.
Other ideas: For a subtle pink retro look, paint the table with Resene Enamacryl tinted to Resene Soft Pink.
Step one
Unscrew the legs from the coffee table.
Step two
Sand the old varnish on the table top and legs to provide a ‘key’.
Step three
Wipe off any sanding residue from the table top and legs with a clean cloth.
Step four
Apply one coat of Resene Waterborne Smooth Surface Sealer to the underside of the table top and table legs, and allow to dry for two hours.
Step five
Apply two coats of Resene Innocence to the underside of the table top, allowing two hours for each coat to dry.
Step six
Apply two coats of Resene Innocence to the table legs and allow two hours for each coat to dry.
Step seven
Fix the legs back into position, attaching securely with PVA glue and the original screws.
Step eight
Turn the table the right way up and apply two coats of Resene Innocence to the top and edges of the table top, allowing two hours for each coat to dry.
