Brightly bold

When the Bendall family bought their first home, the first thing they wanted to do was upgrade the old 1960s kitchen. They designed the layout of the kitchen themselves, then built it over the next few months.

Although it went against all the rules, they knew they wanted an original and bold colour for the kitchen cabinets. In the end there was no competition, Resene Sushi was the perfect colour! They chose Resene Wheatfield in some areas, such as the backs of the cabinets which face the dining area. The neutral colour of Resene Wheatfield contains the bright Resene Sushi green of the cabinets and creates balance. To find the right colours for the ceiling and walls, they took advice from Resene staff and used Resene Rice Cake and Resene Half Alabaster which works in beautifully.

They're thrilled with their kitchen and especially like the contrast between the Sushi green and the original Tawa floorboards.
