A meeting of space and light

The Russell family have been very busy with this renovation project making all the decisions about colours, materials, fittings etc, as well as designing the layout and utilisation of spaces in the building, and doing all the decorating work themselves, only employing tradespeople for the construction, plumbing and electrics.

Resene Paints

The lounge is finished in Resene Greywacke and Resene Sea Fog. The fireplace is contrasting in Resene Lustacryl semi-gloss waterborne enamel tinted to Resene Black and the wallpaper is from the Vision Bloomsbury collection from Resene. The kitchen and dining area are finished in Resene Merino with Resene Cloudy architraves, skirting and trim.

A similar palette has been used in the bedroom with Resene Greywacke swapped to Resene Sea Fog. The interior palette also includes Resene Linen in the studio and Resene Kangaroo in the hallway. The rear back door, bathroom door and toilet are bold with Resene Bird Flower.

The bathroom has been converted from a strongroom and features Resene Enamacryl Gloss tinted to Resene Pohutukawa. The predominantly tiled bathroom includes a cabinet finished in Resene Enamacryl Gloss tinted to Resene Cloudy.

Picture rails in all the rooms are ‘faux’, with the painted moulding fixed over the top of a gallery picture-hanging rail. The bevelled glass panels (vintage glass) were fitted into the new walls to increase the feeling of space and light, which works beautifully with the subtle colour palette in the main living areas.

Thanks to the Russell family.
