Letting loose with colour

After renting for a decade, the Yogeeswaran family was fed up with boring neutrals and thrilled by the opportunity to redecorate their first home with a vibrant palette of colours and textures from Resene to complement their décor that reflects their roots and travels.

Resene Spray

They selected a warm yellow, Resene Kournikova, as a backdrop to their tropical, colourful lounge. For the partially wood-paneled dining/kitchen area, they colour-blocked with sandy beige, celery green and spicy orange (Resene Sand and Resene Celery) on different textured walls. The beige continues down the hallway with a fibre-textured end wall. The laundry is now blue-grey Resene Bali Hai and the bathroom a pale grey Resene Westar.

They had a lot of fun with the kid’s rooms. One has a bird-themed room with lovely sky blue walls and a cheerful pink inside the closet (still to come is a hand painted mural of a tree). The other has an Indian palace-inspired room in vibrant green with a purple wallpaper feature, purple closet interiors and stenciled purple-tinted shimmer paint paisleys along the top of the green walls.

For the master bedroom, they chose a pale yellow for the walls and a rich wine for the insides of the closets.

Bedrooms are finished in (bedroom one) Resene Shalimar with Resene Arthouse on the inside of the closet, (bedroom two) Resene Spray and Resene Hopskotch inside the closest and (bedroom three) Resene Neva and Resene Harlequin (inside the closet). All ceilings are finished in Resene Quarter Spanish White and windowsills and frames in white.

The colours have brought warmth, energy and vitality to this home!
