Home for generations

When this home was bought it had been empty and unloved as a share milker’s cottage for years. Making it a home was a daunting project, but one only a young couple with dreams would have thought of taking on.

Over three decades ago they decorated the exterior for the first time, with colours suggested by the then Hamilton Resene ColorShop Manager – the house in Resene Dutch White, the roof in Resene Karaka, the windows in Resene Thistle and the windowsills and surrounds in Resene Bronze Olive.

As the family grew, so did the wee cottage, and it is now a four bedroom home.

As one generation has moved out the next new generation has moved in to help fill the rooms wirh laughter again. The nursery is now painted in Resene Cest La Vie with the cupboard and wall canvases in Resene Dutch White and skirtings and ceiling in Resene White.

With the paintbrushes out to refresh the paintwork, the Hannahs are getting ready for the next generation to enjoy the house and its magical garden.
