Play with colour

The Rameka Whanau are big on playful colours and the beautiful combos of hot and cool colours and the contrast they give.

They added to their recently done up foyer by continuing their theme up the hallway, inspired by their contrast coloured wallpaper in the foyer as well as some of their art (painted by Marina's nana). The main entrance paint colour is Resene Sea Fog, which was selected as a quiet backdrop for the pop of wallpaper.

They painted a warming orange feature wall of Resene Trinidad on the landing that catches your eye when you walk through the front door and makes links to the bold wallpaper in the entrance. A painting of Marina's wedding bouquet painted by her Nana is perfect here.

Opposite this wall they went for the complete contrast of a soothing pastel purple – Resene Perfume – which was also selected from the wallpaper.

Heading down the hallway they chose to use Resene Rice Cake, which matches the colour in their lounge. They wanted light and bright, and have chosen to feature their three girls' baby knitting framed up down the hall. There were a total of five doors to paint down the hall, which are now all finished in Resene Quarter Sisal, as are the skirting boards and door frames.

Each of the girl's doors is personalised too.

Although they are not so keen on their existing tiling in the entrance, having these colours has worked well with the current flooring.
