Eastern seaboard kiwi style

The Woodwards chose Resene Coastal Blue from the Karen Walker Paints collection for their home's exterior with trims painted in Resene Black White. They were after a soft blue for the house, in the style of American eastern seaboard homes, characterised by the 'Honeymoon cottages' in the architecturally designed town of Seaside, which was the setting for The Truman Show film.

A white weatherboard shed on site, to be demolished, was used for testing different samples of blues so they could see how they looked in various lights and to give an idea of how the colour would look on the LINEA board that the house was being built with. Resene Coastal Blue gave them the perfect look that they were after.

Moana is a holiday town on the shores of Lake Brunner and they wanted the house to have a restful beach feel combined with a timeless fresh look.

The Woodwards wanted a light and airy interior so chose Resene Half Villa White for both the walls and ceilings. Resene Black White was used for the doors and skirtings to contrast with, and bring out, the warmth of Resene Half Villa White. The glass splashback in the kitchen was painted with Resene Cut Glass.
