Home of history

First built in 1898, a total renovation and additions were completed in 2002.

This amazing homehas everything you could wish for, featuring some amazing historical fixtures, marble kitchen bench tops from the Lobby of the Christchurch Star newspaper office, bedroom doors rescued from the Prince of Wales Hotel, a beautiful stained glass window from the Majestic theatre and recycled rimu timber floors and 14 foot high ceilings throughout.

Renovation of an 1898 villa and cottage is ongoing

Unfortunately the internal and external paint work had not been touched since the last renovations and so began the massive project to freshen up this home. The work is around 50% complete with attention now turned to the renovation of the separate 'Artists' Cottage'.

The internal artist studio was gutted and new plumbing, electrics and carpet were installed. Resene Sea Nymph and Resene Alabaster have been used to create a warm and inviting extra living and office space.

Resene Paints and a renovated villa

The renovation of the cottage has consisted of knocking down walls, moving windows, new plasterboard walls, ceiling, electrics and plumbing to create a French inspired third bathroom in what was the cottage. The furnishings are auction purchases repainted using primer, and a modified version of Resene enamel in hues of Resene Pearl Lusta, Resene Oxygen and Resene Alabaster enamel.

These projects have been hard work but the result, and ease of the paint products used, have made for an excellent finish and gives inspiration to continue with this huge job.
