Amber embarked on a crazy, exciting and stressful journey when she purchased ‘a house’; a 1940s property that had experienced a major fire three years earlier and had sat mostly gutted since then.
With her dad as project manager and chief building advisor, they designed a new layout of the property including a 40 square metre extension and over the course of the next six months transformed ‘The Shack’, as it became known, into a gorgeous three bedroom home anyone would enjoy living in.
The property was purchased to be a rental so while Amber wanted to make it as attractive as possible a neutral scheme was important. The colour scheme in the lounge was built around the curtain fabric.

The walls in the living area are painted in Resene Pale Slate, with the rest of the interior painted in Resene Half Pale Slate. The ceilings, window frames and doors throughout are Resene Quarter Rice Cake. The exterior of the property has Resene Perfect Taupe on the walls and apex, Resene Quarter Rice Cake on all features and Resene Half Oilskin on the foundation, deck and front door.
