Blue moon meets blackboard and bedroom

With a new baby on the way, the Simpson family needed to free up the nursery and decided to transform the very drab spare room into a space for their toddler to not only sleep but have space to play and be creative.

Tessa chose the wall colour Resene Blue Moon as it was a very 'warm' blue and evoked a restful, calming feeling. It was also fun and added some spark and energy into a room that was once dull and dark.

Friends and family can't believe the difference the colour has made to the feeling of the room.

Tessa’s brother made a blackboard frame from ply which Tessa then painted with Resene Blackboard Paint. The blackboard has become the backdrop for their son’s ‘creativity corner’ and is a feature that you see as soon as you walk into the room.

In keeping with the rest of the home the trims and ceiling were painted in Resene Alabaster. Tessa also refreshed tired drawers with Resene Alabaster and added some old desk drawer handles.

It’s amazing how such a small tweak changes the look of the drawers. Tessa was inspired by Scandinavian design while putting this room together and sourced a lot of things from businesses that she follows on Instagram. Luckily the room was completed a month before their second son arrived.

Thanks to Tessa.
