A necessary life decision when reaching retirement age meant uprooting their life and moving regions to a 1910 villa.

Due to health issues a second bathroom became quickly necessary, so they enlisted the help of a local architectural designer to create the space.

A very 'fishy tale" design wallpaper from the Resene Imaginarium Wallpaper Collection, was a random inspired choice after seeing it on display at the Resene ColorShop in Palmerston North. The quirky nature of this fish print and bold vibrant colours instantly made it a perfect choice for this feature wall. To balance its powerful visual nature Resene Lustacryl semi-gloss waterborne enamel in Resene Conch was chosen for balance and contrast for the other three walls, subconsciously reinforcing the aquatic theme.

The bathroom cabinet, bought previously, which had no place in any other room found its perfect new home. The wall unit had been hidden in the garage roof by the house's previous owner. A perfect size and shape, it found a home in the bathroom painted with Karen Walker Chalk Colour in Resene Duck Egg Blue with decoupage wallpaper off cuts to give it that final 'pop'. The mirror sitting on the cabinet started life as a window and was homeless until it became a perfect final touch to this bathroom decor. The pedestal handbasin was chosen to keep in with the period look of this turn of the century villa.
The Rimu floorboards were sanded and finished in clear gloss vanish to complete the look.
