Room to relax

Michaela originally spotted the colour in her sister-in-law's country house and always wanted it somewhere in her own house.

The living room was previously painted white. They wanted to create a cosy space with character, different to the rest of the house where they could retreat to in the evening.

The room is fairly small for a living room and both were nervous that painting it dark would make it smaller. With the combination of different colours in the room – Resene Smoky Green walls, light carpet, tan leather couch and artwork, the room feels more spacious than previous.

Michaela's husband especially likes sitting in the old leather chair, inherited from grandparents. and playing the guitar.
