Marilyn and her husband's massive, nearly three year project, has come to an end. The old 1930s villa looks entirely different, is significantly warmer and is now a comfortable, homely living space.

They insulated the exterior walls as they went and 'the old girl' is now insulated top, bottom and right round the outside.
They have stripped back the majority of the woodwork inside, windows, architraves, doors etc and are thrilled with the result. The interiors gleam with the warm wood that's been revealed and with the new carpet throughout, it's warm throughout. Resene Fossil allows the natural wood grain to be the hero and is a very easy colour to live with. Resene Alabaster has good depth and brings the clean fresh lift required.

They scavenged second-hand shops for furniture pieces and swapped tops to engineer the finished pieces. The TV tabletop is the old gun cabinet door, the bathroom vanity, two different sized bedside tables with original top removed and some beautiful macrocarpa sourced from the Riverton mill is designed to sit on top. On and on it goes, a great challenge with a very pleasing result. The colour palette is completed with Resene Madam M and wallpaper from the Resene Home Wallpaper Collection.

Thanks to Marilyn.
