Playful place

After Nicole's third baby was born she really wanted to create a room that would grow with him, that was playful and inspiring, but calming and a place to dream.

They bought their home a few years ago and the walls were a typical modern build tea/grey. Being their forever home Nicole wanted to have some fun and inspire and encourage creativity for the kids.

They love the ocean. It takes you away and allows you to dream. When Nicole found some decals that she knew would be perfect, the colour choice flowed from there. Resene Raindance is a perfect calming blue. Fit for the ocean or the sky. Not too pastel, or too bold and over-powering, but a bold enough move away from greys and neutral tones.

Nicole had sat in his rocking chair for endless hours over the past several months, feeding him, rocking him to sleep, and can happily still sit here, dream about the ocean, and feel a real tranquillity in his playful room.

He (and his siblings) love to play and interact with the removable soft toy sea animals from his wall and the removeable photos of them in their submarine. It all makes for some wonderful imaginative play, and all sorts of games between them.

The next goal is the other kid's rooms and having them help choose their theme and colours and to bring more colour and creativity into the rest of the home.
