Liven up

To liven up the atmosphere, in the kitchen they went for a retro look with walls in Resene Spanish White and a feature wall above the benchtop in Resene Pohutukawa.

Resene Paints

When Leigh and Cory purchased their solid concrete 1920s bungalow it had recently been painted Resene Tea throughout. Although they had used this colour in their previous house it looked a little dull in the west and south facing kitchen and dining room of their new home.

To liven up the atmosphere, in the kitchen they went for a retro look with walls in Resene Spanish White and a feature wall above the benchtop in Resene Pohutukawa. The bold red really makes a statement and complements the original Rimu cabinetry, which they wanted to keep. The room was finished off with a new oven and benchtops and whitewashed timber floors. A fresh coat of ceiling white over the ugly apricot coloured ceiling tiles completed the look.

In the adjoining dining room they decided to play on the room's naturally dark tendencies choosing Resene Persian Red for below the picture rail while retaining Resene Tea above. The new dining room has a very dramatic atmosphere and is a very enjoyable room to spend time in.

The bathroom is the next room in progress with Resene Biscotti destined for the walls.

Thanks to Leigh and Cory.
