Labour of love

Resene Biloba FlowerThis family home was designed and built by owners David and Alison Higgins in 2007. The couple were inspired by the character and elegance of New England houses and wanted to create a similar look.

Resene Schooner was used on the weatherboards as they felt it had a classic timelessness that complemented the style of the house. The Totara timber joinery throughout the house was manufactured just metres away in their own workshop, Fine Woodworking Ltd. Resene Hint Of Grey was used for the soffits, joinery, doors, ceilings and the tongue and groove panelling, for its crisp, clean appearance. A feature wall recently added was painted in Resene Moroccan Spice, with Resene Ironsand used on the baseboards.

They tackled bedrooms as time allowed; Brodie was lucky enough to get his room painted first, in Resene Moby. Two year old Jack’s bedroom was painted (so he could move out of Mum and Dad’s room to make way for the new baby) in Resene Moonbeam, the perfect ‘butter yellow’. Next was Georgia’s room, in Resene Biloba Flower – very girly! The master bedroom is next on the list and the Resene colour charts are already being studied!
