Sarah says 'an added advantage was using Resene CoolColourâ„¢ technology, which allowed us to use a darker colour on the exterior without having to be worried about the effects of damage from the sun.'

Having finally finished their interior renovation, the Kemp-Hill family was ready to start on the outside. With boring white weatherboards and green roof it was time for a big change. Sarah was keen on a black house but others were not so sure. After buying a range of Resene testpots in shades of dark greys through to dark blues, the time came to paint and they still didn’t have a colour. So with a quick decision, black it was, using Resene CoolColour Black.
The eaves and flashings were painted with Resene Lumbersider in Resene White to provide a visual break between the roof and weatherboards and to complement the white aluminium joinery. Having chosen Resene Tuna for the front and garage doors, they were a little unsure as to whether there would be enough contrast – but once painted it looked just right.
Sarah says 'an added advantage was using Resene CoolColour™ technology, which allowed us to use a darker colour on the exterior without having to be worried about the effects of damage from the sun.'

Thanks to the Kemp-Hill family of Auckland.
