Long awaited painting
Now a few years have passed and the budget is not so tight they have been able to get the much planned painting underway. They started by repainting the exterior in Resene Napa with a little Resene Tea added and Resene Half Oilskin for the accents. The roof is finished in a Resene CoolColour. For their master bedroom they wanted to create a relaxing space and bring a little bit of the outside garden indoors. They have planted several magnolia trees that flower briefly in late winter, which gave Elizabeth the idea of painting the likeness of their Magnolia on their wall so they could admire it all year round. She also incorporated the colour Resene Oilskin into the tree trunk so as to connect it with the exterior colour scheme. The curtains are in a shot taffeta with hints of taupe and metallic hues to assist with the flow from outside paint colours to inside. The walls are finished in Resene Cut Glass as it is a nice shade of blue that is relaxing and outdoorsy at the same time. The new look is a fresh change from previously hideous marbled French vanilla on acid with orange tones and dated curtains of orange, green and brown and burgundy. They started preparation by stripping back the wallpaper layers. Some walls had six distinguishable layers so it was a long and tedious job. Then the walls were skim coated, sealed and topcoated.
