Well worth the wait

The Matthews’ family purchased their house, which had no front fence, so George, a plumber by trade, decided to build a block wall. They purchased some second-hand aluminium railings and then realised they had to build the wall to fit the railings, where normally you would build the wall first, then get railings measured to fit the wall. Too bad they only found that out after they’d paid for the railings.

George laid about 20 blocks every weekend, and the kids used the stringline as a jumping rope, which slowed the straightness and the progress of the wall down a bit!

Finally, after 10 months, it was finished and time to paint. They tried several testpots, listened to their neighbours’ comments, and finally chose Resene Bokara Grey which matched the mortar lines of the bricks on the house. They've had nothing but great comments about the colour they chose, and even the neighbours love it!
