Minimalist dreams

Colour trends from NZ House and Garden magazine

Use soft off-whites to build a versatile colour scheme.

Resene Black White has long been a beloved hue with designers and homeowners alike. The chalky and soft calcite grey-white gets its descriptive name from the slight hint of black that’s added to the white base. The result is a perfectly balanced neutral – one that’s not too glaring, neither too warm nor too cool. Like most Resene whites and neutrals, Resene Black White is available in a variety of strengths which you can use to build a tonal colour scheme. Neutrals are the perfect backdrop for accents in whatever stronger colours that take your fancy. Pale earthy colours will bring enough variety to keep your minimalist space interesting while not overwhelming the senses. Choose bolder tones, or you could keep your colour scheme truly achromatic and neutral by accessorising the space with only whites, greys and blacks.
