What do you love most about your life?

Being able to do something I love everyday for a job! Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be able to ride my BMX bike for a living. To win a silver medal at the Olympics has been one of the highlights of my life so far!

How would you describe your personal style?

My life goes between giving lots of energy, and then relaxing. I think my style reflects that.

What is your favourite colour and why?

Green. It reminds me of the outdoors. It goes great with yellows which is perfect for that summer feel. It’s also my favourite decorating colour. I used Resene Green Meets Blue in my lounge feature wall as well as the kitchen splashback which is a beautiful, calming and relaxing colour. It’s a very versatile colour that can be used in so many different rooms.

You’re currently renovating your mum’s house – what are you enjoying most about that?

Well, after building our own house, I found I have a real passion for building, renovating and designing. The whole process was so enjoyable that when my mum mentioned she was thinking about renovating, I was out the door the next morning to sort everything out for her! I really enjoy thinking how colour will transform a room and how to bring everything in the room together.

What are your three favourite colours from Resene’s The Range Fashion Colours fandeck and why?

Resene Koru – I’m using this as a feature for mum’s kitchen. The morning sun comes through the dining room window to light up the green which makes it feel like summer all year round. There are also light shades available in Resene Koru to bring the colour through to the lounge.

Resene Quarter Lignite – a beautiful warm brown. Like the Resene Koru green, I love bringing colour from the outdoors, inside.

Resene Wild Thing – sometimes it’s scary to go away from the safety of neutral colours but this means you get that pop of colour. This colour reminds me of yellow lilies which are my favourite flower.

If I could choose a fourth colour, it would be Resene Double Drought which is a nice warm neutral base to add colour to.

Is there a colour you would never use in your own home?

I don’t think so. I wanted to be a little more courageous with colour when we built but unfortunately I wasn’t brave enough on the first go! I think I will experiment with smaller decorative pieces to start with and will see how I go from there!
