Sultry, smoky purple takes charge this season.
Deep, rich, luscious purple is a colour to watch for this year. It doesn’t have to be used as a bright jewel tone. Try one of the many muted versions of the colour from the Resene colour collections – check out Resene Multi-finish palette cards 4 and 56. Sultry and complex, these bruised lilacs and purples are perfect for a bedroom retreat like this. The dark, cocooning walls are painted in Resene Gun Powder, the floor is in Resene Avalanche and the cabinet is Resene Chapta And Verse. Add a trio of vases in Resene Steam Roller, Resene Mamba and Resene Couture, and repurpose a couple of metal woven platters as wall decorations. They are painted in Resene Sumptuous (large) and Resene Couture.

Peony Rose Cushion from Me and My Trend. Elba Decorative Platter in Gold and Chloe Table Lamp in Smoke from Freedom Furniture. Madam Scholtz Floor Wool Rug and Bedouin Bedlinen in Lead, Kohl Black and Fog from Indie Home Collective.
Try this idea... Use curvy, organic shaped accessories to add softness to a room. By painting accessories, you can create a very soothing tonal colour scheme rather than have to look all over town for just the right coloured vase. Another stylist’s trick is to group objects in odd not even numbers.
