Step by step instructions
Step one
Taking the tree slice, paint it completely using
Resene Pink Terrace – one layer should cover it while also allowing the beautiful wood grains to show through.
Step three
To make the holder, you will need four sections of yarn. Cut 40 pieces at the length you’d like the shelf to hang. We used 1.5m lengths of yarn.
Step four
Divide the pieces into four sections (ten pieces of yarn each). Tie the sections together at the top with a knot.
Step five
With one of the sections, wind the pieces of yarn together to create one thicker piece. Repeat for the other three sections.
Step six
Knot at the bottom at the height that you’d like the shelf to sit.
Step seven
Hang the yarn holder from the ceiling – we used a copper hook – and carefully place the painted tree stump within the sections. You might need to adjust it a few times to help it hang evenly.
Step eight
To finish, thread the beads at the bottom, securing with a knot for each one.
