Terracotta table

Step 1
For this project you need two medium sized terracotta pots. Fleur’s were about 30cm in diameter. Start by sealing any unpainted terracotta pots with Resene Aquapel & Terracotta Sealer.

Step 2
Once this is dry, flip the pot over and use a pencil to trace around the top of the pot on to a piece of 18mm thick untreated pine. Use a band saw or jig saw to cut the circle of wood out. Sand any rough edges smooth.

Step 3
Sand the outside of the painted pot, wipe away the dust with a cloth, and turn the pot upside down. Use some industrial strength adhesive to glue the bottoms of each pot to each other. Use more adhesive to glue the pine circle to the rim of the top pot. Leave this to dry overnight.

Step 4
Prime both pots and the pine top with Resene Quick Dry. Once this is dry, give the pine top a quick sand with a fine grit sandpaper. Wipe off sanding dusts.

Step 5
Apply two coats of Resene Spinnaker to the entire table, allowing for the first coat to dry before applying the second coat.

Step 6
With a dry brush and a small amount of paint, apply a band of Resene Blumine up the side of the table, feathering out the edges so that it merges in with the base colour of Resene Spinnaker. While this is still wet, apply a narrower band of Resene Bilbao, again merging the two colours together.

Step 7
Once the paint is dry, finish by applying one coat of Resene Clearcoat UVS. This will give a gloss finish and help protect bright colours.
