Instructions

Step 1:  Start by giving the coffee table a good sand with a medium grit sandpaper. Wipe away the dust with a soft dry cloth. Paint the table with one coat of Resene Quick Dry. Once the primer is dry, give it a light sand with a fine grit sandpaper.

Step 2:  Paint the top of the table with two coats of Resene Gold Dust metallic. Fleur used a small microfibre roller. Do two coats, allowing for the first coat to dry before applying the second coat. For the optimum finish use the recommended paint basecoat first.

Step 3:  The pattern used is known as ‘tumbling blocks’. Google ‘tumbling blocks stencil’ and find a style that suits your furniture, resize to your preference and print out. Attach your printout to a piece of thin cardboard and use a sharp craft knife to cut the stencil out. Use tape to hold your stencil in place and then paint over it with a small microfibre roller using Resene Bullitt. Gently lift the stencil, reposition it and repeat the painting process until the whole tabletop is finished.

Step 4:  Paint the base and legs with two coats of Resene Bullitt. Finish your coffee table top with Resene Aquaclear to help protect the metallic finish from scratches.

Top tip:  Hang Resene Komar Wallpaper Collection HX8-048 on your walls to extend the tumbling blocks from table to walls.
