How to make a glow in the dark jar lantern

You will need

Instructions

Step 1:  Start by printing out some stars and make a stencil by cutting them out with a craft knife.  Sellotape the stencils to the outside of the jar. (Photo 1).

Step 2:  Using a small piece of foam, dab on a thin layer of Resene Aviator on to the stencil.  Fleur did two layers of paint and used a hairdryer to speed up the drying time between coats. (Photo 2).

Step 3:  Carefully remove the star stencil and reposition on to the jar and repeat with the paint and foam. (Photo 3).

Step 4:  Once all the stars are dry, use a paintbrush to paint on three layers of Resene FX Nightlight to the inside of the jar, making sure that each layer is dry before applying the next layer. For extra glow effect, apply 1 coat of Resene Lumbersider White as the final layer. (Photo 4).

Step 5:  Charge up’ the jar by leaving it in the sun for a while.

Top tip:  Add touches of Resene FX Metallic Silver Aluminium for extra sparkle to enjoy during the day.
