Habitat bright ideas with Fleur Thorpe – DIY projects
Turn humble paper plates into a land of dinosaurs with a little paint, colour and imagination.

Wall painted in Resene Carrara and Resene Eighth Canterbury Clay and shelves in Resene Half Rice Cake
Step 1: You need three plain white paper plates for this project. Fleur’s are 26cm in diameter.
Step 2: Use scissors to cut two of the paper plates in half.
Step 3: Use the third plate to cut out shapes for each of the dinosaur’s heads and tails. If you don’t have a third plate you can use scrap cardboard, such as an old cereal box.
Step 4: Attach the heads and tails to the bodies with a hot glue gun and paint the dinosaurs.

Step 5: Paint on the eyes using Resene White and Resene Black. Use the end of a paintbrush for making small spots like eyes.
Step 6: Cut 4 toilet rolls in half and cut two slits halfway down on opposite sides.
Step 7: Paint the toilet rolls and once dry, push the dinosaur bodies into the slits of the toilet roll legs. You can also add some hot glue to stop them from coming off.

Top tip: Create your favourite jungle or wild animals with a different mix of Resene testpot colours. All you need is a little imagination.
