Instructions

Christmas village - Step 1 Step 1
Start by painting your toilet rolls with two coats of Resene Pirate Gold. Once this is dry, use a small paintbrush to add four stripes of Resene Black. When this is dry, flatten the toilet roll.

Christmas village - Step 2 Step 2
Use a stapler to staple the front together. Staple the back as well, but this time insert a short length of black pipe cleaner and staple this in place at the same time. Trim the front and back of the toilet roll at an angle.

Christmas village - Step 3 Step 3
Cut black pipe cleaners to four lengths of about 12cm long and hot glue three of these to the underside of the toilet roll for legs. Hot glue the fourth length to the head as an antenna and bend this into shape.

Christmas village - Step 4 Step 4
Cut some wing shapes out of newspaper and hot glue these to the bees back. Bend the legs into shape. Finish by adding two google eyes – Fleur chose a big eye and a little eye for a quirky expression, or you can paint on the eyes using a Resene Black testpot of paint.

Top tip:  For the wings you can recycle any old paper. If it’s not the right colour paint it with a Resene White testpot and allow to dry before cutting into your wing shapes.
