How to make your own easy DIY painted breakfast tray

If Mother's Day is coming up or you just want to spoil a special someone why not spoil them with breakfast in bed, served on this beautifully painted tray?
You will need
- Wooden tray
- Sandpaper
- Pencil and ruler
- Paintbrush and masking tape
- Resene testpots in your choice of colours; Nikki used Resene Sea Nymph, Resene Japonica, Resene Tequila and Resene Wax Flower
Instructions
- Begin by painting the sides of the tray in Resene Sea Nymph and let dry.
- Mask out the middle of your tray and paint in Resene Wax Flower. Once dry, use the pencil and ruler to create a pattern on the tray – similar to how you would slice a cake. Mask off each piece, and paint them in testpots of Resene Sea Nymph, Resene Japonica and Resene Tequila, leaving one slice in Resene Wax Flower.
- Serve with your loved one’s favourite hot drink and breakfast treat, and you'll make their day!
Top tip: Get creative with your design – you could paint stripes, a geo design, chevrons or even just freehand paint a design of their favourite things. If you paint a segment in Resene FX Blackboard Paint you could even write them a special message for them to read while they are eating their delicious breakfast treat.
