Make your own home sweet home bookends
Create with paint! Projects from habitat by Resene
Keep your books in order and add colour to your home at the same time.
These bookends are inspired by autumn hues, but you could choose colours for the season, for holiday celebrations or to brighten up your home’s décor.
Colours inspired by autumn leaves
You will need
- Wood offcuts, cut to shape (with triangle tops)
- Masking tape and Resene testpot brush
- Resene testpots in your choice of colours; Nikki used Resene Copper Fire, Resene Prairie Sand and Resene Pot Pourri
Instructions
- Paint the wood blocks in base coats of Resene Romantic and Resene Prairie. Leave to dry.
- Mask off the middle and paint the top in a different colour – pictured here is Resene Prairie on top and Resene Copper Fire on the bottom, and Resene Copper fire on top and Resene Romantic on bottom. Leave to dry.
- Remove the tape and prop your books up with the newly painted houses.
Top tip: Paint all or part of the front facing section of your bookends in Resene FX Blackboard Paint or Resene FX Chalkboard Paint and draw in your own fun house features using chalk.
