How to make your own geometric coasters and placemats

Geometric colour blocking is an easy technique to master to transform things around your home.
This project is perfect to use as coasters or placemats and are a pretty embellishment to the dining room table.
Geometric coasters and placemats
You will need
- Scissors
- Low tack masking tape
- Resene testpot in your choice of colour; Nikki used Resene Drop Dead Gorgeous
- Paintbrush
- Pencil and ruler
- Cork mats
- Resene Aquaclear (optional)
Instructions
- Using the ruler, pencil the stripe pattern for your placemats.
- Mask using the low tack masking tape.
- Paint with Resene Drop Dead Gorgeous, applying lightly along the tape.
- Remove the masking tape off before the paint dries. Leave to dry.
- If you wish, apply Resene Aquaclear on the full placemats and coasters for a surface that is easy to wipe clean.
Top tip: Paint each family member’s placemat in their favourite Resene colour using a Resene testpot so that everyone knows which is where and where their place at the table is. Use separate colours for guest placemats.
