Summer 2024/25 colour trends
Serene in green
A palette of neutrals and soft botanical greens comes together for a look of understated luxury while still feeling casually pulled together rather than over-curated. A backdrop of light, pale neutrals provides the base, starting with the floor painted in subtle grey Resene Ted, against a lower section of wall in Resene Eau De Nil and upper section in Resene Alabaster; a combination that is both soft and neutral, as well as striking. Breaking up the main wall into two colours gives the whole space a more interesting visual shape. Behind the arch, the deeper green feature wall in complementary Resene Paddock also adds depth and dimension making the sitting area feel more spacious. The canvas and bowl, both painted in Resene Off The Grid, draw the eye to keep the two parts of the room connected. Adding these touches of gently contrasting, saturated colours adds to a sense of luxury and abundance, while keeping the room quite minimalist. The repetition of curved forms in the sofa, coffee table, draped plants and the lamp support, layer in a softness and connection to nature.

Bathe in the Med
The classic Mediterranean colour palette of sea and sky blues, paired with washed whites and textured finishes has taken a sophisticated turn. Neutrals embrace an earthy feel with oaty shades like Resene Biscotti, a biscuity beige that anchors the floor of this airy bedroom. Tonal layers of the same shade in different intensities add to the space so it feels almost monochromatic but with added depth and flair. Resene Double Biscotti offers a deeper tone on the bedside cabinet, adding a noticeable but non-dominant contrast. The rear wall is given texture and a sense of movement with Resene Biscotti topcoated in Resene Eighth Biscotti mixed with Resene FX Paint Effects Medium for a relaxed, washed-effect finish. Muted, subtle and cool blue accents in Resene Botticelli punctuate the finished look for a look that feels comfortably ‘undone’ and lived-in, yet luxurious and welcoming. Subtle curves in the side table and lightshade add to the relaxed, romantic feel of the space, almost subliminally, while the greenery and soft textiles complete the nod to a Mediterranean holiday inspiration.

Beautifully beachy
Layers of neutral tones with plenty of lush leafy greens will lend your outdoor spaces the charm and elegance of any luxury beachside – or poolside – resort. The right shade of deck stain is a good starting point for creating your own at-home, outdoor chillout or conversation space. The two things to consider before choosing a stain colour are the type of timber you are staining and what other permanent structures, like your home’s exterior or fence, the timber will butt up against. This deck is stained in Resene Woodsman Natural for a honey-tinged glow that still shows off the timber’s natural tones and textures. It also nicely complements the home’s exterior painted in crisp neutral Resene Triple Black White, which helps to reflect light and keep the space feeling bright. The table in Resene Half Black White and chair in Resene Half Innocence add just enough contrast to be interesting without standing out from their surroundings. Planters painted in Resene Emerge and Resene Half Inside Back filled with verdant foliage pull the whole space together for a touch of cool and calm Cape Cod-style beachy outdoor living.
Top tip: If you’re planning to use a dark paint or stain colour outside, use the Resene CoolColour version of your colour to help reflect more heat.
