Colourful personality

Warm safari colours in lounge

Flamboyant and unexpected splashes of colour were used to give each room a personality.

Warm safari colours add vibrancy and impact to this new home featuring Resene paints.

When it comes to using colour in the home, being a little adventurous can make for a dynamic interior that reflects your personality. Sandy Southam of Southam Design & Build, the interior decorator for the house featured on this page, used Resene paints to make a strong design statement.

Flamboyant and unexpected splashes of colour were used to give each room a personality. The dining room features a dramatic ceiling painted in Resene Cab Sav, which sharply contrasts the walls. These are coated with Resene Wan White from the Karen Walker paint range. Black blinds add further visual drama.

The Resene Wan White backdrop continues into the family and kitchen areas, where it is contrasted by a burnt orange wall in Resene Indochine. Not to be outdone, each bedroom is painted in different colours. One child's room conjures up images of Africa. Resene Kilimanjaro and McKenzie are dark and light brown shades that form the base palette, while Resene Pacifica, a spicy yellow green, features on a storage cupboard.

Resene recently released The Range, a collection of 150 traditional and contemporary colours and five metallic and textured finishes. This is available from Resene ColorShops.

All Resene paints are available from Resene ColorShops.
