White walls create a calming backdrop for the colourful furnishings at the Elim Christian College. Resene paints feature throughout the interior.

Gone are the days of cookie-cutter school buildings. Today, the architecture is more likely to be designed to best suit the needs of each school and site. For the Elim Christian College Junior Campus, the architectural team at Jasmax used colour as an integral element.

Classrooms, teacher spaces and the administration centre in the Junior Campus of Elim Christian College feature a range of Resene paints. The painting contractor was New Zealand Commercial Property Maintenance.

Whites from the Resene Whites & Neutrals fandeck feature in classrooms, staff and administration areas. These include Resene Black Haze – a nebulous, cloudy grey white – and Resene Half Joss – a smoke-infused beige – which provide a calming backdrop for brightly coloured furnishings. Teacher areas are colour coded with Resene paints chosen to match the building exteriors.

Resene recommends Resene SpaceCote Low Sheen for broadwall surfaces prone to everyday wear and tear in projects such as schools and other public areas. This waterborne paint is low-odour and Environmental Choice-approved. It is also durable, easy to wipe down, and comes in a special kitchen and bathroom variant with anti-bacterial silver and MoulDefender to provide extra protection in bathrooms, kitchens and other wet areas.
