To enhance the traditional character of this new kitchen in a 1930s house, the designer specified a mix of Resene neutrals in warm tones.

It is the attention to detail that creates a sense of authenticity in a traditional-style kitchen. This extends to the choice of paint colours for walls and cabinetry.

Traditional character kitchen
The old-world look of this new kitchen is enhanced by cabinets painted in Resene Chandelier, and walls in Resene Double Chandelier.

This new kitchen, part of an extensive home renovation designed by architect Philip Porritt of Jasmax, features a mix of warm neutral Resene shades. To provide an old-world look to complement the cabinets and antique furniture, the walls are painted in Resene Double Chandelier from the Resene The Range Whites & Neutrals fandeck.

Resene Double Chandelier is described as a honey and cream combo that provides a warm, inviting interior. The slightly lighter Resene Chandelier was specified for the cabinetry, where it highlights dentil mouldings and decorative beading on the panel doors and drawers.

The walls are complemented by Resene Half Villa White – a soft white that features on the ceiling and window and door trims.

Karen Warman, Resene marketing manager, says paints recommended for kitchens include Resene SpaceCote Low Sheen Kitchen & Bathroom, which is formulated with anti-bacterial silver and MoulDefender to protect against bacteria and mould.
